Message from the Principal

Junior Colleges Luthuli is situated in Durban on the grounds of the largest specialist hospital in the southern hemisphere, Inkosi Albert Luthuli. The school has been running successfully for the past 13 years. Initially it was opened to accommodate children of the hospital staff, but word soon spread about this wonderful school, and children from all over Durban now attend our school. Security is of the highest priority and standard.

The school is blessed with enthusiastic staff members who have been carefully selected and who abide by the school’s vision, which is to stand firm in our belief that we shall provide a quality education that surpasses any other pre-school. Our knowledge and expertise is evident in our innovative and top class educators.

We are proud to offer small classes which ensure continuous one-on-one interaction between child and teacher. Our classrooms depict the seven areas of learning which enable children to experience a more holistic range of activities. Combined with this, our teachers are trained in THRASS, the new exciting method of teaching handwriting, spelling and reading skills.  The interactive white board is a powerful tool which is used in combination with our themes.

We encourage daily interaction between the teacher and parent. Communication is of prime importance and to this end we provide newsletters on a regular basis, parent evenings, a message book system and reports three times per annum.

We provide further stimulation for children by taking them on excursions to places such as the zoological gardens, animal farm, science lab, places of culture, etc.

Our school offers numerous extra murals during the day at an extra cost to the parents.

Our school caters for children from 3 weeks to 6 years. We boast a beautifully decorated nursery that consists of a tranquil room for cots, a huge play area, milk kitchen and change area. The loving and caring staff do massages for the little ones and specialized exercises that help develop their gross-motor skills, language development and life skills.

With 6 academic classes from potty training right through to Grade R, our staff are trained to prepare our children for “big school” and beyond.

Our children are VIP guests who are served well presented and nutritious meals.

As we love and believe in our school and children, we proudly invite you to give us the opportunity to show you around.
